The zeroth law: you must want to do it.

The Seven Laws of the Successful Property Investor.

The zeroth law: you must want to do it.

Do you really want to do it?

Before you answer that, give it some thought. Know what's involved first or you may change your mind or simply lose interest and fall away.

These are the qualities you will need for successful property investment:

  1. You need to be willing to learn.
  2. You need to be prepared to question conventional wisdom.
  3. You need to be prepared to change.
  4. You need to understand that learning also means work.
  5. You need to understand that taking action - when you are ready - is part of learning .
  6. You need to be patient enough to do the homework and to wait for the right deal.
  7. You need to be able to start with a vision and then move on to acquire the training through the right tools.

Don't make the mistake of not taking change seriously. We have an inner drive towards change but we also have an inner resistance. A laziness, a lethargy, an inertia. If it has been some years since you last pushed yourself, experimented, signed on for a course, explored an unfamiliar area, studied, etc ... then your mental muscles may be out of shape.

Test your resolve

Pick ONE of these mental exercises and do it to completion. Or better still, make a commitment to doing something each day to keep your brain and change mentality in shape. If you can do it, then you can answer "Yes!" to this first and most important question - "Do you really want to do it?"

Test whether you want to do it- by testing whether you are prepared to do what's required to change. These brain exercises are a 'dummy run' - and they're good for you - the more you use your brain, the more you benefit!

Please note! This is a long list, full of ideas!

Don't try and do more than one thing! After a while when that stops being a challenge you can move on to something else, but the point of this exercise is not to give you a long list of things to do - it's to incorporate a single simple mental exercise into your day to day life.

It can take 30 seconds or 10 minutes or just keep you occupied in the traffic. If sudoku drives you mad and takes an hour, choose something else! Add up the numbers on car number plates instead - it's just as good for you AND it turns a negative experience (traffic jams) into a positive one (brain fitness)!

Choose one activity from the list below. Choose the one that fits best with your daily schedule.

Choose active interactions in your daily life, not passive ones.Substitute TV for reading; aimless Internet surfing for educational material. Evaluate what you read. Fiction works as well as non-fiction - but stay away from the obvious best sellers if you want real value from this exercise.

  1. Play a game. Physical or mental. Checkers, scrabble, chess, crossword puzzles, sudoku, but not to obsession. Cricket or rugby on the lawn. Tennis. Golf. If you already play these games, approach them differently.
  2. Work on your weak areas. Realize how quickly we humans tend to find out what we're best at and then do that only, neglecting the rest. Realize how fast we choose to form a habit that turns a challenge into a rut and so reduces the benefit.
  3. Reverse the usual approach. Start your day with the right attitude - read a short paragraph or just a line or two of any book - upside down. Set a precedent for the day - you will not be doing it the same old way!
  4. Tackle something you find hard. Anything. Big or small. Physical or mental. Threading a needle. Working out a sum in your head. Memorizing phone numbers rather than relying on your cell phone. Memorizing shopping lists. Find ways to help you - pictures, pat terns, reminders, landmarks.
  5. Do mental arithmetic. At the till, work out what change you will get before the cashier does. Keep a running total of the items in your basket. Multiply, divide, add and subtract figures as you go along. Set yourself maths problems - little ones - and do them on the way to work.
  6. When you drive, think of the names of the streets you pass - before you get there. Do without a map. If you've been there once - rely on your memory next time. Or get lost - find yourself in a different part of the world that daily life does not take you past, and explore it.
  7. Break a habit. Try a new shop, restaurant, hobby, sport, activity. If you've never understood what people see in golf - take a lesson or two. If you've always wanted to sing - find a teacher and take a few lessons. Watch life open up. Discover a whole new world that has always run parallel with your own - but you never knew it.
  8. Listen to educational tapes and books on tape if you spend long hours in the car, rather than the radio. Or think through a problem and give yourself a deadline to solve it (the water tower, the freeway off ramp, the top of the next hill).
  9. Make it a habit to be mentally active. Ask questions about what you see around you and then make it your business to find answers.
  10. Try and remember what you did two days ago. Five days ago. This day last year
Get out of your rut! If anything's become routine, find a new approach to re-energize it. Or leave that comfort zone altogether and try something quite different.
  11. Spend time with people who also do some of these things. Avoid people who don't ask questions and aren't curious about the world around them.
  12. Take a course to improve yourself.

If you have taken just ONE of these suggestions and made it a part of your life - and it has stuck - then you have proven your resolve.

If, after that, you can say you are prepared to develop the qualities we spoke of in the beginning, then you can honestly, thoroughly, and having done your homework ... say:

"Yes! I really want to do it!"

If you have done all of this, well done! You are the kind of person I hope will accompany me further, not only to successful property investment, but also on this exciting journey of self discovery and wealth creation!

The impossible is always possible

The challenge

On 2 September 2004, I pledged to make over R10 million before the end of 2009, with an investment of less than R1000, by using the Formula for Riches and the other components of my Amazing Formula for Wealth Creation (Mercedes Principle, Accelerator Principle, the Laws of Wealth Creation).

The TOTAL investment was only R0.79

The auditors have just informed me that after two years and three months the investment is worth R10,067,179!

It is quite clear that I have proven that the so called impossible CAN be done!

I’m very, very excited about this because another of the chains that have been used to keep people “in their place” has been broken!

What does this mean? Let me explain, with the help of a couple of illustrations:

The four minute mile

Until 1954, they said it was impossible for a man to break the four-minute mile barrier. Doctors, sports experts, scientists etc. said the human body simply could not run this fast.

According to our anatomy, we were not meant to break this barrier. For more than nine years prior to 1954, athletes had been trying, and failing.

Then, on 4 June 1954, Roger Bannister broke the barrier.

And suddenly, mankind could run that fast. In less than four minutes, by refusing to accept that limit in his own mind, Roger removed the limit in all our minds. And other people soon followed him.

Today it is an accepted fact that man can run that fast. Just as unquestioned as the old belief that it was impossible. So – how reliable are these facts about life that “everyone knows”?

The Wright brothers

Before the Wright Brothers got their plane off the ground for that first powered flight, people said it was impossible to fly.

They said “If man was meant to fly, God would have given us wings”. And who could argue? Clearly, we were not designed to fly the way birds do.

Then the Wright brothers found a way for mankind to fly, and proved all this “conventional wisdom”, and all this “common sense” quite wrong. Proving that one should ask questions about obvious truths and not just accept what “everyone says”.

And this I see as part of my mission in life: to unlock people’s minds so that they see what they can do!

So why I am so excited about achieving this challenge in less than half the time I gave myself, is because now my students can see that they can achieve their challenges too! Everyone is a little more free now.

All they need to do is accept my invitation to open up their minds and leave those chains behind.
And the most important way in which you can take up my invitation is to throw yourself wholeheartedly into the opportunities the BRS offer you.

It is interesting that just as I achieve my challenge, yours opens up!

The question now is "Will you take up this opportunity or are you just going to sit and watch it go by?"

The Formula For Riches is an amazing tool by Henrico Hanekom

I write this story as an ordinary person.

Nonetheless, after only a few months on the Dr Hannes Dreyer Wealth Creators Mentoring Course course I'm already achieving the extra-ordinary.

I'll be honest, at first I thought that the Formula for Riches was a gimmick and I did not really believe that it was necessary for me to know it in order to achieve success. But when I took a closer look at the formula I realized the truth in it and hence it is a major part of my life.

Growth is one of the things that I've come to learn is very important, through the Formula for Riches. Most of the changes that I am currently experiencing are internal - my perceptions, ideas, beliefs and attitudes.

I know that these internal changes will soon externalize and manifest in the physical world.

You can ask me anytime of the day to write out the formula and I'll do that. I know it off by heart.

But also captured in this formula is an important factor called “Re” (Responsibility). I had to take responsibility for my financial future because just knowing the formula is not enough. I realized that I have to actually take the responsibility, take action and apply the formula to the financial decisions I make.

One of the most powerful moments in my life was when I clicked that my current financial situation is my very own doing, so it is only ME who can change the outcome. My initial thoughts were denial, I ignored the facts and somehow believed that my current financial situation ... just is the way it is.

After Hannes taught me about taking responsibility through utilizing the formula, many things have changed in my life. And I use the word “life” because for me finance is an important part of my life because I see it as a means to an end, one of my goals being abundance in all areas of my life. Hence, the “Re” part of the formula.

As a businessman, I had a fatal perception of risk. I though the more risk I take, the richer I will get. Needless to say, this has only made other people and institutions rich.

The Formula for Riches is helping me see exactly what risk is doing to my investments and I've learnt the importance of being able to calculate risk before making a decision.

I also found an amazing tool in the Formula for Riches that is helping me in all aspects of my life. The tool is the "nm" symbol in the formula and it stands for time and effort or productivity.

Just think about this, guys like Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and Richard Branson only have 24 hours in their day, just like you and me. They must be very effective and productive to achieve what they do. I need to make the best of the time that I have because according to the formula, it will exponentially affect the outcome and growth on my surplus. This is something that I think about daily and I keep on working at being more effective, using my time and energy wisely.

The value I've got from Hannes’s courses is not measurable in monetary terms. I read the free e-book before I decided to acquire some of the courses. I was amazed at what I learnt even through a free document from Hannes Dreyer. I then knew that my surplus would be well spent on further material.

The thing that I appreciate the most about the way that the material is presented is the fact that it is real-life stuff. I know that Hannes won't teach anything that he has not applied in his own life. This helps me to trust the information I'm learning and make it my own.

I can recommend the course to anybody who is brave enough to take responsibility for their own financial future!

Applying the Formula For Riches and get 217% growth by Waldi van de Merwe

My success with the formula for riches came thru our company.

As per the audited statements the growth from last year to this year was 217%

This was done by taking full responsibility for al the money matters in the company. Anything to do with money (customers, debt, investments, payments, levies, rent, profits, losses, tax, estate duties, buy sell agreements, wills) goes past my desk and under my eyes.

Although we are still at risk from things outside of my control in the business I have made sure that there is a rock solid base to operate from.

I have been maintaining or just not having any debt for the company.

I have been spending my time at night with my family and after there bed time I have been carrying on with study of my business (working on the business not, in it) and personal growth.

This has paid dividends as you can see. For the last month I have been waking up at 4:30 in the morning to continue with self study and spiritual study. And cannot wait to see the results from this practice in the future.

Kind Regards

Start a business with infinite return by Johan Stroh

There is an old saying that goes ‘At the end of your life you will regret more the things that you DID NOT DO rather than the things you DID DO’. So wise and I can only say thank you God that I come across this experience in my life and I am living it. I am DOING IT.

For the past 11 years I have been in the retail business. For 6 years I had bakery franchises and for the last 5 years until Feb 2007 I was involved with ceramic products. I really thought I was doing well. End of February my path with the franchisor ended and I started looking for something new. Apart from Pick ‘n Pay, Build-it and other retail groups who contacted me to open up a new franchise, I considered several other options including bringing a completely unique concept to SA from the USA.

In March however, because of my search for new opportunities, I saw the ad for the free seminar by Hannes Dreyer in the Rapport which I attended. I cannot express how my idea of a successful business and the risks associated with it, have changed from then till now.

Several of the BIG opportunities that came up would have been my new line of business a year or so ago. Now, because I am doing the mentoring program, Kaizen Challenge and attended several of Hannes’s other presentations, the selection criteria have changed. I have invested so much time in myself. I live a balanced life.

Certainly the biggest change in my view has been to minimize the risk. The world tells you that if you invest in a well known branded business, you cannot go wrong. I know of several branded businesses that went belly up soon after opening although the owner invested lots of money and time in the business.

Currently I am involved in a business that does simulation training. We have a proven ability to take complex business models and simplify them sufficiently to create a challenging and enjoyable learning experience without turning it into a game. It is absolutely amazing how a person at any level of a company can suddenly ‘see’ how the business works. That WOW or AHAA expressions are often heard.

My reasons why I joined forces with this business are the following:
I did not have to risk anything apart from my time (to get trained)
It is possible
I can make it happen
I certainly have control over it.

I have earned R15000 so far for 6 days’ work. This represents 3 x 2 day courses that I presented to one of the biggest retail distribution centers in South Africa.

Considering that they even paid for my flights, hotels and car rentals, the actual amount earned could be much higher. So my profit was R15000 which is an infinite return.

Accelerator Principle - I am involved in a project for the schools. From the overwhelming reaction from the various schools that we have seen, this should mean a passive income INCREASE of R10000 per month for the next year as from January 2008.

Through Hannes Dreyer, the Formula for Riches, Mentoring program and Kaizen Challenge I am developing my gifts and applying them to the Amazing Formula for Wealth Creation. The only thing that scares me now is the possibilities that are pitching up all over.

Cheers

Kaizen challenge – FREE FOR LIFE by Ben Durand

Changes I have experienced in the last 49 days

It is like a door that has opened.

I can now see what was holding me back. I would never have stumbled upon this secret if I was not in the right frame of mind and if it was not for the KAIZEN challenge. I did not know or was not aware that God is the Universal Mind with all the powers of the universe. My mind and spirit is part of that Universal Mind with all the powers of the universe. I have been looking for the truth and the Truth has made Himself known to me. Knowing the world within is more important than the world without. We are so focussed on the outside world influencing our thoughts that we stop thinking for ourselves. Other people are thinking for us and their thoughts are becoming our thoughts. We are realising their dreams and not ours!
A big lesson I learned is if you change you attitude you can begin to change your life. I’m no longer going to allow anyone else to think on my behalf.. I am in control of my destiny.

The word “responsibility” has a new meaning for me. Responsibility means to take control of my mind and my thoughts. I must make sure that the gate keeper is keeping negative thoughts, or below the line thoughts, out of my subconscious mind. Whatever I think, will manifest. I did not know of the law of attraction (also called the law of love). This has given me a total new outlook on life. My daily routine has also changed. I am now more aware of how I start the day. When I open my eyes I start to say “thank you”. Saying "Thank you" that I am alive, had a good night’s rest, a house, wife and children. When I get out of the bed my right foot is “thank” and my left foot “you”. It doesn’t stop there as I continue to say thank you whenever I see anything that glorifies God. The more I do this the more energy I receive to take the day on. This has also improved my relationship with my family and work colleagues.

The biggest change has been the change in energy levels. I am excited to know what is going to happen next. How are my power goals going to materialize? I am waiting for that moment that will change my life for ever.
We don’t understand and appreciate the meaning of the word “abundance”. Nature is giving in abundance. We see it every where. Look at the flowers, trees, grass and plants around us. There is an abundance. Just look at the abundance of flowers that you find every year on the West Coast. Why then would God not give the same abundance to me? I love God and I can claim a life of abundance from Him. Mark 11: 22-24. Ask/believe you have already received it. It is a promise from God that I will apply in my daily life. I don’t have to live in fear anymore. I know the Truth and the Truth is God.

My Average Day

I am now making more time available for myself. I usually have spent 15 minutes in the morning for payer time but I have now set apart 45 minutes every morning of the week for payer and meditation. I spend time with the Lord and it calms me. I use this time to meditate on my thoughts, goals and to thank God for all his blessings.

This is not a 49 day challenge. This is a life time challenge. It requires discipline but by living your life and apply the Kaizen principle you grow and experience a constant never ending improvement.
I will continue to find out more about the truth, growing every day and live my life to the fullest!
I CAN BE ANYTHING I WANT TO BE

I will still use Hannes as my sound board. I believe our friendship will grow in years to come. Hannes, you have made a difference in my life and that of my family. I do have now a purpose in life and that is to be a wealth creator. I did not understand the Powermorphing principle in the beginning. I do now understand the use of power and not force. I am grateful that I could have done the Kaizen challenge. A lot of people are losing out on the value and knowledge that this course gives you. I have grown as a person and will never be the same.

I am a new “ME” – a spirit without any boundaries! FREE FOR LIFE!

What Kaizen has meant for me by Mel Marx

The kaizen challenge was the 3rd rung of a ladder that has lead me to an exciting world of possibility, dream and goal attainment.

The first rung that took me up that ladder was the ‘firewalking experience’ which truly woke me up to the possibilities of becoming a wealth creator.

The next step was the ‘Powermorphing’ course that taught me how to create power goals and then to instruct my subconscious to create my goals and dreams.

As I said the 3rd rung on this ladder was the Kaizen challenge that taught me the activity and discipline necessary to attain the goals and dreams that my subconscious was already fashioning for me. I very quickly understood how to create daily activity but also how to start disciplining my mind not to be distracted by other people’s dreams and constant bombardment of information. I also grew to understand how to take accountability for my thoughts and interrogate everything that I see, hear and am told.

The Kaizen challenge took me on a cognitive journey opening my mind to the fact that the world is full of possibility and opportunity.

Some of the things that have happened to me are: I now have a list that increases daily with wealth creating ideas, one of which we are currently working on to make a reality. I have a real certainty for the first time that I will be wealthy in all the aspects of my life as the writers of the ‘Secret’ put it, harmonic wealth (all aspects of your life being in perfect harmony). I have also come to understand that my God wants abundance for me and nothing that I have learnt from all the new sources of information I now consult is contrary to my Christian belief in anyway on the contrary it supports everything that is written in the Bible.

To me the Kaizen Challenge (www.thekaizenchallenge.co.za) is a programme that is not just 49 days long but should be executed back to back 49 days, then start again for another 49 days for as long as is possible every time you start and do it again you learn new things about yourself and the exercises strengthens you focus.

Hannes thanks for being the mentor and coach I have been seeking for a very long time. A mentor who absolutely leads by example and asks the type of questions that holds a mirror up to our souls so that we can see the short comings and take responsibility to grow or not.

Kind Regards

Mel Marx

Have you the mental strength to resist mass hysteria?

A lot of people think mass hysteria is images on the News of milling crowds, swarming like ants, looking mad and crazy and doing bizarre things.

They never find themselves in the middle of a huge crowd and so they think they are safe from the kind of irrational behaviour that crowds are famous for. People in crowds seem to revert to some kind of primitive behaviour.

When you think of crowd behaviour, you tend to think of Germans going crazy at Hitler’s rallies, and the insanity that followed. You thinks of riots and anarchy. Rock concerts with girls fainting and trying to get onto the stage.

You do not think that, sitting at home with your family watching TV, then driving to work and going about the normal daily routines in your life, you are part of any mass hysteria.

Okay, so you may not be throwing rocks or screaming hysterically. But chances are, you are acting just as irrationally as if you were in a crowd. This is because you ARE in a crowd.

If you are watching News channels along with millions of others, you’re in a crowd.

If you’re exposed to any mass media that means you’re part of a mass and prone to acting accordingly.

If you’re using “free” financial planning from the blue chip life insurance companies to plan for your future the way 99% of people are; if you’re investing in property the way 99% of people do; or running a business the way 99% of people do; then you’re showing crowd behaviour.

And the crowd is not successful.

Woman and Wealth Creation

Many people who are still in the conventional work system, employed by companies, now see their careers as important ways to express their individuality and to make their mark on the world.

This is another attitude towards work that has been nurtured by employers and their industrial psychologists.

Of course, many other people work simply because they have to ... though by following wealth creation principles, more and more of them are planning to become independent of a job, with all the uncertainty that goes with it.

Woman and the marketplace.

Interestingly enough, the rise of women in the marketplace has had a big effect too.

Fewer workers believe that hard work pays off now, for example, or that hard work is really a virtue.

One of the main differences is that women are less accepting of long hours as a necessary aspect of work, because women still run the home and do most of the work of bringing up children.

They know that life’s most important work happens outside official working hours.

So they don’t “buy” the values that a predominantly male workforce did.

Women make up about half of the workforce now. So their requirements are starting to have an effect.

A recent study showed that many women would rather have more time off than more money, so they can do those jobs that really matter, like keeping the family healthy, happy and together.

Strangely enough, not many women sign up for my courses.

Yet, with their deeper understanding of the importance of real wealth versus money, and the greater incentives for them to become financially independent so they can spend more time with their children, I’d say they have even more to gain than men.

Perhaps at the moment they are just too busy to be able to think.

Some of them describe each day of their lives as a race that they have to run, without a break.

The question then – What can I do to help woman become Wealth Creators?

Your answers will be appreciated.

What is an investor?

An investor who cannot repeat his or her success is not a true investor in the wealth creation sense of the word.

The way I see it, is consistently successful investments do not happen by accident. So anyone who has made some successful investments through luck is not an investor in the wealth creation sense of the word. Why not? Because a Wealth Creator must be able to take his or her system and apply it over and over again successfully.

This rules out people who depend on luck because at some point, their luck will turn. Sometimes they do not even know that they are relying on luck and are baffled when things do not work out as they did before. But confusion is good! I see confusion as a call to dig deeper and understand. If you have had this experience, my recommendation is that you don’t give up – carry on finding out why things went the way they did, and search for systems that protect you next time.

As you can see, I place great store on systems. Proven systems (like Property Pro, the Formula for Riches™, and Retire Quickly) are the reason why I say anyone can create wealth, by finding a system that works, and then applying it without breaking the rules.

In this way it can be seen that consistent success (wealth creation) is the result of an investor’s timely, organized and faithful application of specific strategies, techniques, attitudes and formulae pertaining to the specific investment arena.

I invest in three types of investments: myself, business and property.

My first and most important investment: myself

Over the last twenty five years I have invested more in myself than in any of the other classes of investment. The reason is simply that no other class of investment can outperform this type of investment.

There is really a lot to this thought and I suggest you reread this last paragraph. And then I recommend that you approach investing in yourself with the same passion that you put into your other plans and businesses.

Also note that investing in yourself means not just paying for a course that can accelerate your progress; it means also putting in the homework afterwards so that the theory is transformed into practical, applicable knowledge. In this way you make your new knowledge true knowledge – because you can apply it.

You haven’t really made it yours until then.

This approach has helped me get so much more out of the courses I have attended than most people ever do.

Capital growth? Or income? Which is the winner when it comes to property investments?

Of the two ways to make money in property investing, i.e. capital growth (your property increases in value) and income (positive cash flow, when your investment income is higher than your expenses) – which is the best?

In my opinion, both are valuable and can occur independently of each other.

You can have a positive income return and no or even negative capital appreciation, or you can have no capital appreciation and no positive income either. You can have a negative income return with positive capital appreciation, or capital appreciation and positive income too!

So here are the possibilities …

income + capital -
income - capital -
income - capital +
income + capital +

Let’s look at + capital appreciation and - income

You can go for capital appreciation without positive income returns – in this situation you are using what we call negative gearing, which means you’re prepared to accept less income than your expenses, and make up the difference out of your pocket.

Why would you do this?

You’d do this if you had the expectation of the market continuing to rise so that you could sell and recoup your losses as well as make some profit; or alternatively If you expected rentals to increase and gradually overtake your monthly bond amount and other costs.

This has been the situation for most investors (but not most Wealth
Creators!) for a few years since capital growth shot up, beginning in 2002. But it’s risky – you are assuming two big things:

Risk x 2

1. you’re assuming your capital growth will be so quick and so big that it will more than cover your out of pocket expenses; and

2. you will be able to afford to subsidize this investment, even if interest rates go up.

In my property workshops (now on DVD) I teach my students not to guess about the future but to do two sets of calculations using my unique Property Pro Program - one based on the average scenario, and the other based on the worst case scenario.

This is because, contrary to what is popularly believed, Wealth Creators do not take risks … they minimize risks to the point where they are so small they are no threat at all.

I’m concerned to see the way people talk about “investments” when sometimes, even by the developer’s own calculations, you will not get a positive cashflow in the first 12 or 13 years! Take care of yourself, don’t believe everything you hear, and most of all, do the calculations!

An unexpected way to reach your dreams

Most people focus on their strengths and try to avoid their weaknesses. This is very much how we have been brought up. But to my mind, the real breakthroughs come when you focus on your weak areas.

Why?

Because otherwise your life is more of the same. Today is much the same as yesterday and tomorrow will be much like today. Because you are approaching it in the same way. You are playing to your strengths and your weak areas just get weaker.

But Wealth Creators want to make positive changes that help them reach their dreams! And I have found personally that one of the best ways to do this is to get stronger in my weak areas.

Let me give you an example:
Nearly three years ago I started my challenge - to make R10 million in less than 5 years with an investment of less than R1000 (UPDATE: I made around R1 million net income in Year 1, and R2 million net income in Year 2, not including the capital valuation of my businesses, and I have invested only 79c!)

One of my decisions when I began this challenge was to do a lot of writing in English (I made a commitment to write the mentorship lessons at http://www.hannesderyer.co.za/).

Sounds simple, doesn't it?

Actually, no. English is my second language and I always avoided it in the past. And I do not consider myself to be a good writer. I find writing difficult and spelling almost impossible.
Let me tell you a secret – making R10 million is nothing, when you know how to do it. But WRITING! In ENGLISH! Now that was a REAL challenge!

I wrote the first 100 or so mentorship lessons which range from 4 – 15+ pages, one a week. Then I found a professional writer to help me polish it and all my writing from then on.
Not because my own writing was not working ... it was! No, the reason was simply
because I believe in the Kaizen principle – constant and never-ending
improvement.
During this time my own writing has improved, or so I am told. My confidence in English has grown tremendously. I know that I can take some pride in what I have achieved. One of my goals has been achieved. A goal that was a big one, for me.

And so my own journey of wealth creation has progressed.

I cannot tell you how wonderful I feel about this!

And you can feel this way too!

So if you are experiencing any of these feelings ...

Trapped, stuck, bored, on a treadmill, insecure about the future or your job, disappointed about not getting closer to your goals ...

You can replace them with these wonderful feelings!

Successful, getting somewhere, achieving what you want to, getting to your goals, happy, full of positive feelings!

And you can do all this just by choosing a weak area in your life and focusing on it so that it becomes strong! If you want quick results, choose something small to begin with. Like writing a bit every day if writing is your weak spot. Bigger things, like relationships and wealth creation, take longer, though even there you should start to see the signs of improvement from quite early on, even if in small ways to begin with.

You need to know that working on your weak areas will be a bit uncomfortable at first – like exercising when you are not yet fit. You could feel some aches and pains! In fact, it’s a good sign.

A final word: in a world in which so many of us are trapped into living lives not of our own choosing, mostly without even knowing it, giving yourself positive experiences of power in your life is very, very important.

By doing this you give yourself a vision of how you can reclaim your own dreams and your own future. It really matters! You can go to www.kaizenchallenge.co.za for more on these positive daily experiences, if you like.

Why you need this blog!

A lot of my students tell me that their wives or husbands, colleagues, family and friends, do not know what they are going on about with this wealth creation thing.

This makes me think back to my own early days as a Wealth Creator. I remember when I was starting to realize the truth about conventional retirement planning (in other words, that it cannot and does not work ... see www.retirequickly.co.za! ). I would attend meetings or drink coffee with my fellow life insurance salesmen and I would listen to their talk and I would realize that I was moving off in another direction to them, and that the gap was widening. I was starting on my own wealth creation journey, but they were not.

I could see that they did not ask themselves the kind of questions I did. I could see they did not wonder about any of these things ...

Why they had to work so hard, month in, month out, until retirement age ...
Whether even after retiring they would really be able to relax and enjoy the financial ease and comfort they expected ...

At the time when I worked in that office I restructured the way I worked so that I was still able to sell some of the traditional products, like life and disability cover, the ones I did (and still do) believe in, and avoid selling people products I no longer believed in, such as RAs and annuities. And in this way I remained a highly successful salesman but did not compromise my own principles of needing to believe in what I was selling!

So I knew that I could adapt my own outlook on life and fit into a conventional system and do just fine. But in the end, I think I always knew I’d be happier finding or creating an environment which was more aligned with who I am. And this is what I did. I now work in what I consider to be the perfect environment, with people who are on the same wavelength.

The lesson here is ... if and when your old environment stops fitting so well, you can initially adapt so that it works for you for as long as you need it to, but in the long run, you should start seeking and creating the surroundings and relationships that really do fit in with your new approach as a Wealth Creator.

What’s this blog got to do with your environment?

Well, a very important aspect of your environment is the people you surround yourself with.
Not all of the people in your life today are moving at the same pace as you are.

Some of those people you may leave behind, others you do not want to, such as the people close to you. These people need time to catch up, but first they must build trust in the process.

This is absolutely fine. Everyone needs time. But what about you, perhaps feeling rather alone for the moment? You need to connect with others like you, who face the same challenges and are starting to get excited about the same insights.

You need to discuss ideas, experiences and insights with people like you. You will always need to.

Part of the creative process in human beings is what you might call “bouncing” ideas off other people. You need those ideas to bounce back to you, reflected off the other person’s mind. They may come back with new ideas, new perspectives, things you haven’t thought about before. Or they may simply come back feeling good because they’ve been shared.

Either way, as long as they come back, you feel better, stronger, confirmed in your journey. The one thing you do not want to do is see them vanish into a void. When people don’t understand, they look blank, they do not add anything, or even encourage or confirm. They do not understand and so they can’t.

We all need encouragement and confirmation. But when we don’t get it we tend to shut up and retreat. And this does not help us grow or feel supported.

That’s what this blog is here for. Because even though you and I may not speak personally, I read what you have to say, and I think about it.

Sometimes I can help you, other times (many times) you help me.

I’ve learned a lot about the importance of teamwork during my challenge. I see you as part of my team. And I know that because there is a rule that says what you put in is what you get out, by simply sharing your experiences, questions and thoughts with me and with others, you will receive back in equal measure, what you need to help you with your own wealth creation journey.

That’s why you need this blog. And that’s why I need it too.

Some thoughts on being “free”

Most people never get beyond basic survival pressures. Their days are filled with the hunt for money. When they’re not earning it, they’re spending it. And I am not talking about poor people. I am talking about those who earn very good salaries.

When you have got beyond this level (sadly, few people do, no matter how much they earn) happiness and fulfilment in life come from growing as a person and giving back to the world (5th and 6th Human Needs). Everything that I do today, I do to fulfil these needs, hence my passion in life:

My passion in life is to teach willing people how to create wealth.

This is my passion because in my years as a financial planner and still to this day I see so much suffering, so much waste, so much strife and stress, all caused by money worries.

And yet I know that having money plays only a small role in the TEM$™ formula (the inputs you need to create wealth) ...

T = time
E = energy
M = mindset
$ = money

Out of all of these inputs I would rate Mindset by far the most important, followed by Time and Effort. Money comes in last because you really do not need much of it. Mindset is what we are discussing today.

I know that all the people I see racing around madly trying to make money already have what they need to succeed (yes, even the money), they just don’t know it.

They just don’t know it ...

And so I came to see that ignorance is the main reason why people stay tied to a job, and stuck in unnecessary debt.

So it would seem simple then to help people become financially free: just give them the education they need.

But this is human nature for you: I have tried this approach many times. And people seem to get very little benefit. They go straight back into the mess they were in before.

They get no benefit because they place no value on something that is given for free.

I saw this over and over in my previous career. I would help someone out of deep financial trouble and he would be very grateful. Six months later he would be back where he started, maybe even deeper in trouble. Why?

He learned nothing from what I did because he did not have to pay me.

Has anything changed since those days? Sadly, no! Just recently I had the same experience with Retire Quickly™. With our unique approach, people were getting financial planning, at a fee, that was making and saving them millions, literally millions, and getting them to their dream at breathtaking speed.

Nevertheless, most people still did not see the value, because they are conditioned to expect financial planning for free. No matter how often I explained the real, hidden cost of the “free” planning (for example on an average policy, the “free” session easily ends up costing you more than R18 000 in commission and costs, AND it does not even get you to your financial goals!). Go to http://www.retirequickly.co.za/ for more about this if you are interested.
What have I learned in the process?

What I’ve learned over the last year is that there is no point trying to force change in the mindsets of people. It just does not work. So we have changed our strategy. From now on we will “give” people free advice – but although in the end it is costing them more, they are not actually paying for the service out of their pockets – so it does not bother them that it is costing them more – as long as they do not have to pay any cash UPFRONT! That’s human nature.

Now that I have restructured this product so that people get the free financial planning they expect, it works out costing them more in the long run, although still nothing like what they would pay the financial institutions, and of course, in our case the financial planning actually works, whereas the financial institutions’ versions can’t and don’t – it is impossible (see the website for more!).

What is the lesson?

  1. There has to be a cost in order for people to learn.
  2. Our understanding of words like “free” has really been messed up thanks to advertising and our conditioning. We think certain things are free because we are told so, when in fact they are ruinously expensive. And we are suspicious of things that are genuinely free.

We value the “free” financial planning we get from institutions (because their adverts tell us it is valuable)

... but we do not know how much it really costs us and we would be shocked if we did
... and yet when we are offered real value we reject it
... we prefer our expensive “free” session!

As a Wealth Creator I recommend that you think about the word “free” and examine how free it really is. How transparent is its use? How honest?

My policy

I offer certain products that have great value, like BOSS, for free. I do this not because they are not worth much – but because in spite of the confusion, people still respond to the word “free”.

I want as many people as possible to find out about what I offer, but I have a miniscule fraction of resources in terms of the publicity and advertising the financial institutions buy. They spend many millions indoctrinating the public to believe that their products are trustworthy, effective and safe. Indoctrination is a strong word but it is not an exaggeration – you would be amazed at the many subtle ways this mostly hidden indoctrination reaches you. (But that is another story, for another day!)

In the meantime, you need to know that your expectations about financial planning come from these multi-million Rand organizations whose loyalty is to their profits and shareholders, not their policyholders (i.e. you!).

The antidote is education

This is what I am up against and the antidote to the poison is education. Free products like BOSS are useful, and they draw people to me, but I know that the real gold is the education I offer, and how this changes people’s mindsets and sets them free of financial slavery.

So I am happy to develop and give away useful tools, advice, etc. because they can help draw people to what I consider to be the deepest and most lasting value of all – the education I offer that creates mindset change.

I know that only a certain percentage of the people who read this will really understand and be able to see and set aside the immense weight of the load of conditioning they carry around unknowingly.

  • These people are well on the way to wealth creation and they eagerly embrace the education I offer.
  • They know that the cost is a measure of their commitment and a part of the TEM$™ formula, and they know they are lucky to pay me a tiny fraction of what I have spent in terms of educating myself as a Wealth Creator.
  • They know that Mindset is the most important part of TEM$™ and that it is the application of their knowledge that makes the difference.
  • In this way, some of them are making upwards of R9 000 000 a year from what I have given them for free!

If you are one of these people, congratulations and welcome to the ranks of true Wealth Creators! You can truly benefit from the education and systems and business opportunities that would otherwise cost you millions of Rands to access!

Others are still not sure ...

  • They are still wondering why, if BOSS, the Quick Cash Flow Optimizer Program and my other giveaways are so great, they’re for free.
  • They are wondering why, if education is all that’s required, they can do all the courses and read all the books in the world and still not create wealth.
  • They are wondering if my courses and programmes are really worth what I am charging for them, in spite of the fact that I have distilled 25 years of experience and self-education which has cost me literally millions of Rands, so that you don’t need to spend that kind of time and money to achieve similar results.

I understand

If you are one of these people, I understand your dilemma and my advice to you is, keep thinking, keep questioning, keep reading, take nothing for granted, and most of all, try and read up about the epidemic of conditioning in society and what it is doing to our ability to think for ourselves (some names to research: Stauber and Rampton, Bernays, and a BBC documentary called the Century of the Self).

To give you an idea of how brainwashed we are, do you know that if you ate breakfast cereal this morning, it’s because you have been conditioned to do so? And if you give it up for health reasons and go back to bacon and eggs ... well, that’s conditioning too!

Don’t stop!

I wish you luck, and assure you from my own personal experience that as long as you are searching you are sure to find answers – the really important thing is, don’t stop!
I hope your path will soon intersect with mine again!

The trick is never to think that you are immune!

It is said that Warren Buffet and other successful long term investors have systems in place to control their emotions. I, too, have put systems in place, and I find that they work very well. The trick is never to think that you are immune!

If you ...

... know yourself well enough to see that your decisions are all powered by emotion

... are humble enough to know that you are not superhuman or immune to the power of your emotions

... are wise enough to put proven systems in place that make sure emotion cannot negatively affect you

... are disciplined enough to stick to them no matter what people say or what the markets do

... and if you are also clever enough to make emotions work for you, in alignment with your goals (i.e. through Powermorphing)

... then you will be a more advanced investor than 99% of investors out there

... in fact, you will be a Wealth Creator because you have the tools and the know-how to create wealth from nothing over and over again.

Thursday, June 28, 2007

It’s great to be positive, but beware of thinking you’re superhuman!

Today’s tip is a cautionary one. As I write, the interest rate has been raised 4 times in a row and the Reserve Bank is talking of another hike in a month’s time.

Inflation is beyond the “acceptable” limit and South Africans are allocating approximately three quarters of their after tax income in the form of dept repayments.

Bottlenecks at banks and the Deeds Office due to strike action and new legislation are leading to the kinds of delays that many people simply cannot survive financially. The kind of people who are relying on the sale of their house to resolve debt problems, for example.

At times like these you need to make sure you are not over-extended.

During boom times, like we’re been having in South Africa the past few years, everyone’s an investor. Everyone’s bulletproof. Everyone can defy the rules and make money. Everyone has brilliant vision, brilliant instincts.

Everyone is suddenly a property investor and investment expert.

The problem is, everyone also has short memories.

We forget that the wheel turns and lately it happens to have been on the upturn; which is why we’ve been doing well.

But we are not aware of this ... instead we think we’ve done well because of our own brilliance, talents, vision, etc. We do not realize that luck has played a far higher role in all this than we think.

When the wheel turns downward (and though the signs are already there, we cannot say for sure when it will happen, only that it WILL happen) and our fortunes go with it, we are bewildered.

We’re not doing anything differently! It’s just inflation; U.S. debt; the oil price; etc. Suddenly it is no longer our responsibility, the way success was! Suddenly we’re victims; and true to form, we start complaining around the braai.

Meanwhile, this is the point at which the real Wealth Creators come into their own.

While others were over-extending themselves in terms of borrowing; buying “investments” in a hurry because “there was no time to lose!”; and walking a tightrope between solvency and crashing, because “I will double my money in six months’ time” ...

... Wealth Creators were being far more cautious. They were eliminating their debts; getting cash-flush; and doing worst-case scenarios on all the ridiculously overpriced “investments” and “bargains” that came their way.

They overrode the hype and the fear of losing out, and stuck to the figures.

If the figures did not make sense, they did not buy. This takes some mental strength and discipline ... it is hard to go against the crowd.

People like these can weather interest increases because they’ve planned for them; their debts are low or non-existent, and their investments are cash flow positive right from the start.

FIREWALKING – YOU MUST BE CRAZY! By Mel Marx

It was a Saturday like any other, except we were booked on one of Hannes Dreyer’s workshops. We knew that today we would be stretched but what we did not know was how much.

During the day we found out that the workshop would be followed by a ‘firewalk’. I instantly thought ‘you must be joking’, there is no way that I will willingly be walking over coals. I consoled myself with the knowledge that it would be my choice and that there would be no coercion. But I was intrigued and everyone was saying just keep an open mind. So to prove how open my mind was my partner and I joined the lecture and took part in the ‘arrow breaking exercise’. On arrival at the fire my mind was still made up, no way was I going to do that! But Tanya and Hannes encouraged us to join in and celebrate with the other people who were courageously taking on the coals. I thought those people are so brave I must support and celebrate with them and so we did.

As we were clapping and enjoying other people’s victory something started happening to me. I started thinking is it possible? It seems like it as others are doing it. If I were to do it I would have a great victory over fear. Hannes was adamant, “If you are fearful, don’t walk”. Then my partner turned around to me and said, I am going to walk. I did not even have a chance to answer and before I knew it she had done it. Well, I thought this is simply another goal to be achieved. As I stood in front of those coals, I had a moment where focus was stronger than fear and my desire to do something extraordinary became so strong that I simply did it.

Once I had, I thought I am not sure that this was real, so I had better do it again in case. So we did.

This was something that I had to do for myself and nobody else. Since that walk I feel as if I have woken from a long sleep. I see things so much clearer. In particular I see so many possibilities for us to achieve our dreams.

Thank you Tanya and Hannes for the encouragement and creating an environment safe enough for us to break though our self imposed barriers

SINCE I STARTED WITH THE KAIZEN CHALLENGE I CHANGED AS A PERSON by Gerhard Van Der Merwe

I am on week 23 with the mentorship challenge and on day 27 of the kaizen challenge.

My story is not of great financial gain at this stage but of wealth creation.

I am for the first time in my life understanding the difference between greed and financial gain.

Since I started with the mentorship program and especially the Kaizen challenge I changed as a person. I am not short tempered as before. I have goals for every day and I challenge myself to change every day (constant change).

My family can also see the difference and I have a wonderful wife and sons that does this course with me and together we can only grow stronger. I now understand what it means to look at a glass as half full and not half empty.

I still have a lot to learn and can not wait to get every week’s lesson.

Hannes what I really respect of you is that you always give glory to God in all your achievements.

I am also now focused on all I can be to glory of God.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU CONCENTRATE ON by Jennifer Hudson

I firewalked last Saturday evening - this is the second time I have walked and it was a different experience from the first time.

I wanted to walk across the coals again as I wanted to know if I could do it again. One of my fears about walking again was that I wouldn't take it seriously, as the previously I walked six times across the coals and had one little blister on my toe - at that time, I don't really remember feeling the heat or thinking that the coals were hot.

This time, the first time I crossed the coals, I got blisters on the insteps of both feet - I could smell that burnt smell - I am not sure if it was as a result of not wiping my feet when I got to the grass or if I didn't take the coals heat seriously enough.

I walked a second time as I have the "if you fall off a horse, get straight back on" type of mentality i.e. to overcome the fear - I didn't feel the burn the second time around - I don't know if it was cause I wiped the coals off of my feet the second time I walked.

However, I had two little "lightbulb" moments in the lesson before the walk. The first was when Hannes said "Who would be prepared to come up and snap the arrow for R1 million?" - although I raised my hand, I was surprised how many people didn't - we all want to be wealthy yet we won't get out of our comfort zones to do something that is relatively easy, that would make us a lot more wealthy than we were before the offer and in a very short space of time - got to learn to make that shift and get out of my comfort zone a lot more quickly - not worry what others will think!

The second was the rules of the fire walk which was a metaphor for me in achieving my goals. Focus on what you doing, don't run, don't jump, don't jump out, don't just stand there (i.e. don't do nothing) as you will get burnt - once you have committed just walk deliberately and with purpose and you will get there quite easily.

Hannes, thanks once again for sharing your knowledge with me.

Regards
Jennifer Hudson

Just a few comments from my side.

First of all congratulation! There are very few people who have done EIGHT fire walks in their lives. In fact there are very few who actually did one fire walk.

We attract what we concentrate on. “One of my fears about walking again was that I wouldn't take it seriously” This thought has manifest when you walked the first time – therefore the blisters.

The second time you walked your intent was not to hurt yourself – you paid attention – and you walk without burning or even feeling the heat.

Will I get burned?

Many thousands of people from all around the world have walked on hot coals without any injury and so many are so successful you might be tempted to become very casual about the whole thing.

BIG mistake! I know from personal experience the times when I have not respected the fire have been the times when I have been burned. (in fact I also picked up a small blister on Saturday evening – but please don’t tell anyone) They may only have been minor burns, but none the less they helped me to focus and realize I was playing with fire.

Anyone who chooses to walk does so for one reason and one reason only ... BECAUSE THEY WANT TO … when you attend my firewalking events, I don’t care whether you walk or not, the choice is yours and one you alone have to take responsibility for. All I care about is that you make the decision that makes you feel most relaxed. You will know…

In a survey conducted by F.I.R.E of people who had been burned, there appeared to be one thing they all had in common.. THEY KNEW THEY WERE GOING TO BURN before they stepped onto the coals.

The lesson we can draw from these responses is a good one for life: if you do something and your heart is not in it, you will get burned. If your heart is in it, your potential is extended.

THE BOX CANNOT BE SEEN FROM THE INSIDE by Lourens Janse van Rensburg

The Himalayans speak of a place called "Shambhala" (Shangri-La).
The Celts speak of a place called "Tir-na-nog" (pronounced "tee-nah-noogh").
Places full of wonder, which can be found only by those who already know the way.
They can never be found by one who does not already know where it is.
One might pass right beside it without seeing it.

The Capitalists speak of a place called "The-Outside-Of-The-Box".
This too, is a place full of wonder, which can only be found by those who already know the way.
This too, can never be found by one who does not already know where it is.
Many pass right beside it without seeing it, every day.

Like an ancient sage, seemingly speaking in contradictions: "The answer is hidden in the question...", "The answer lies within you..." Thus says Hannes Dreyer to his students: "Think outside the box...", "The answer is in your hand..."

And the student quietly replies: "Yes, Mentor", but everything inside him screams: "I AM THINKING AS HARD AS I CAN, BUT I DON`T SEE THIS BOX!!! HOW CAN I THINK OUTSIDE OF SOMETHING THAT DOESN`T EXIST???"

--------------------------------------

Imagine two parallel mirrors, facing each other -- the reflection of one is bounced back to the other, and back again to itself, back and forth ad infinitum. Looking into them, it seems as if one can see into infinity.

Imagine a baby born and raised inside a room like this, with mirrors on all walls, never allowed to leave the mirrored room. The baby thinks he can see into infinity in all directions. But no matter how far he stares into the distance, he can never see more than the objects beside him in the room, reflected a million times.

Like Jim Carrey’s character in "The Truman Show", people born and raised inside The Box cannot comprehend anything outside of it.

Yet they always have that nagging feeling that there must be more to life than just this...Consider this:One cannot see a mirror by looking at it from the front. One can only see the objects reflected in it.The mirror is not invisible, but un-seeable.The mirror itself can only be seen from the back!!!The Box is lined with mirrors on all sides. People inside it are convinced they can see into infinity, oblivious to the concept of the outside.

But some are crazy enough to listen to others even crazier.

They listen to people crazy enough to stand on the street corners shouting out about the place called The-Outside-of-The-Box.

They are crazy enough to believe these crazier-than-thou`s.

Then one day, when they cannot sleep in the middle of the night, when they brush their teeth in the morning, when they are on their way to work, they get struck by enlightenment, as if by lightning.

And they instantly realize: like a mirror, The Box can only be seen from the outside!!!From the inside, it is un-seeable!!!They step out of it, and they look upon The Box, and the people trapped inside. They realize something more: from the outside, The Box is not only visible, but also transparent!!!

The Box is not a room with mirrors on the walls. In fact it has no walls, only mirrors. One-way mirrors, so one can see in from the outside. The people inside are not trapped by the walls at all -- there are no walls. They are only trapped by the illusion created by the mirrors. They are only trapped by the shallowness of their own imaginations. They only need a tool to smash the mirrors, the will to do it, and the courage to step through to the outside.

If you have the will, Hannes Dreyer provides you with the tool, and helps you to gather the courage.

--------------------------------------

A good friend once asked me a riddle: "What has a great volume, and can hold many things inside, yet it does not posess an outside?"

I replied: "I don`t know, my friend. Please tell me."

He said: "The universe!"

I smiled back: "Just because your mind cannot imagine the outside of the universe, does not mean that it has no outside!"

My friend did not understand what I said, as if I spoke in a strange and unknown tongue.

--------------------------------------

To find Shangri-La, travel with someone who knows the way.To find Tir-na-nog, travel with someone who has already completed the journey. To find The-Outside-Of-The-Box, travel with Hannes Dreyer...

Gletwyn's success story

Hi Hannes,

Here is a little success story:

I have been on the mentorship program for a little over a year now and looking back there has been considerable change in my attitude. I have been rather good at reviewing my goals on a daily basis and sometime even twice daily - memorized too. Anyway one of my hobbies is spearfishing and freediving. I have set up my website: www.freedive.co.za and as I plan to mentor spearfishing and freediving I needed some credibility.

I just got that credibility recently - the EP spearfishing team including myself and two mates won the nationals last year as well as this year.

Great stuff! But it went one step further when two of us were selected for the springbok team - I was one. This is great for my mentoships in diving. I partly attribute your goals and wheel of life system to my success - as you said the ground may shake a bit below ones feet and it does - various things happen that are synergistic to ones overall goals.

So I am off to Spain in July to participate in a qualifier event where the top 12 teams go to world championships in 2008.

Besides that my wheel of life is certainly more balanced and I have much greater insight into investments so far and each week I enthusiastically read the lessons and see how I can apply them.

Keep well

Regards,
Gletwyn Rubidge

Another miracle or just the result of the Powermorphing Process?

Hannes

My wife and I attended the Powermorphing course on 24+25/02/2007.

Very inspiring to say the least!!!

On our return on Monday our phone rang from a natural healing (naturopath) office telling my wife to come to their office for an appointment!! Amazing - they were booked full for months!!!

We were very happy to say the least because I was home that day from work.

Good things will start to happen!

PS I find the Kaizen Challenge very interesting!! Just keep at it!!

Fire Walking Experience by Paul Blows

Lighting the flame within

It is now 2 weeks after my fire walking experience on 25 May 2007. After reading day 18 of the Kaizen challenge I decided to stop procrastinating and write my story about my experience.

I attended Hannes’s sales and business development course held in Pretoria on Saturday the 25 May. I was aware that Hannes had fire walking sessions but was not aware that there was going to be on that night.

As I was out of town and had nothing to do the evening I decided I would stay. Keeping an open mind I said I would see what the night has installed for me. After the day’s workshop, we all gathered around the fire. It was a very icy evening (close to zero degrees). The fire was warm and looking around and chatting to the others I could sense expectation levels rising.

We attended the mental break through seminar in the auditorium and Hannes showed us that we could break arrows with our necks! Not yet convinced, I too stood in the queue waiting for my turn. Watching each of the others break theirs, my anxiety levels started to rise. When it was my turn, Hannes joked that I would have difficulty as an auditor. And yes, I did. “auditor” are too logical and mind logical mind tried to take over the situation and the arrow only quivered!!!!

I then blanked my mind and GREAT my arrow broke too. Overly exited I rather went looking for the pieces to prove to myself it did break forgetting to get my hug from Hannes!!!

The arrow awoke something in me. The place I usually feel nervous…that chasm in your chest/stomach – it felt it was no longer there! The butterflies, the turning in my stomach was replaced with … well a warmth!!

It felt like a flame or fire had been lit. A source of energy had been awoken in my stomach. We walked down the fire from the auditorium. I felt like I was walking on springs. I had an extra spring in my step, more confidence holding my broken arrow in my left and a complete one in my right to show those at home.

After placing my new trophies in the car, I made my way to the fire. And there along side it was a bed of hot coals laid out on the grass. The evening continued and people started walking across the coals.

I continued in the circle till the “flame” inside me reached my throat and could feel its warmth in my shoulders. This energy fuelled me to walk across the coals and before I knew it I was on the other side!!!! What a rush !!! A release of energy took place. I transformation within me…I was a new ME!!!

I did not believe what had just happened and about 10 minutes later there I was again over the coals. The second time I hesitated at the start and felt the heat of the coals for a split second. And then I was a two time FIRE WALKER!!!

Immense levels of energy was released and on my drive back to Johannesburg I felt a great power within me.

I have explained to many people what I experience that weekend almost tow weeks ago and I can still see their disbelief. They feel I was hypnotised or it was some sort of trick.

What I have come to realise is that walking across the flames breaks those self imposed limitations as Hannes mentions. But also you come to know the real YOU. I did not burn my feet walking but I did burn. I burned within, deep with me, and it resulted in a new me on the other side of the coals.

I see the world and people differently now, as if my eyes were burned across the coals! I see the limitations others (friends, family, and colleagues) place on themselves and can see that not to long ago I did the same.

I recommend walking across those flames to anyone and everyone so you to can experience the NEW YOU that is already in you, waiting to be awakened.

Changes to the Mentoring Program

Last week I changed the feedback on the assignments form. In the Mentoring Course my students receive weekly assignments. I changed the way I reply to their assignments.
Tested the new system this morning. I am happy with the results. This will surly improve the value of the course.

My first try

I decided this morning I need a BLOG Maybe I can share some ideas and what I am doing with my students on a daily basis.
